On Valentine’s Day –10 months after her husband’s death, 68-year-old Sue Johnston got furious when she received a bouquet of flower from somebody named John. She thought that someone played a cruel joke on her, so she decided to call the florist.
“I called the florist to say there had been a mistake,” Johnston said. “The florist replied, ‘No, ma’am, it’s not a mistake. Before he passed away, your husband prepaid for many years and asked us to guarantee that you’d continue getting bouquets every Valentine’s Day.’ With my heart in my throat, I hung up the phone and read the attached card. It said, ‘My love for you is eternal.’”
Sue and John were married for 46 years and every Valentine’s John would send her beautiful flowers with five simple words: ‘My love for you grows.’
Sue decided to share her story in a magazine and the picture has been making its way across different social media and websites. The magazine publisher has not yet been confirmed, but there is speculation that the letter came from Redbook Magazine.
